TO//BE In the Year 2011...

Sorry ahead of time, this is a pictureless post (and I admit, those are the ones I usually skip over the most).

Tomorrow is New Year's Eve and not only am I excited to wear my newest outfit, party with close friends, AND have New Year's Day off to recover, BUT I am also excited to ring in a New Year (simply)! Most of us seem to get ourselves into a routine as the year flies by quickly. I know that I have gotten myself into a routine and it's not the best one either. I've procrastinated my way through the year 2010! I just seem to have driven straight through it way over the speed limit, with the radio down and not making NEARLY enough pit stops. Not only that but it's as though I kept my eyes straight forward the whole way and hadn't caught a true glimpse of the beauty and inspiration passing by me. It's upsetting to realize I may have wasted a lot of time.

Well, the past is the past. It's time for me to take my regret and make it more a lesson and a key motivator for the year ahead. Here are my resolutions for 2011:

10//Avoid cutting hair

9//Read books

8//See more movies (old and new)

7//Clean home more often

6//Be more health-conscious

5//Become more eco-friendly (use less plastic)

4//Learn to cook by Lisandro's Mom

3//Decorate Apartment to the standards of my imagination

2//Take photos Daily of everything and anything

And most importantly...

1//Practice Bass Guitar Daily and begin writing songs!

You'd think by now that Colorado has seen some serious Snow Action but you are completely wrong (and it's bumming me out!) In fact, the news said that today the Metro Area (Denver) would have 3-5 inches of snow and all we got was a drizzle.

I think I may have underestimated snowy weather a bit. It's actually a very peaceful type of weather if you think about it. No matter how cold it is you still have the ability to lair and lair until you reach your comfortable warmth! When it's grossly hot outside you can't just strip to nothing in order to cool down and then you are miserable in your sweat and then resort to your hotass apartment in search of atleast shade.

Another lovely thing about snowy days is the outside even has this different sound to it. Everything echoes a bit more, the wind makes a sort of "wooing" noise and, since most people are inside their homes to avoid the cold, the streets are silent. Sigh Than that cold breeze swoops by and twirls in your hair and you sip your warm coffee (or hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps if you're down to party) and melt into the Winter Wonderland that surrounds you. Ah! Please bring SNOW!

MADNESS from within//

As I get more and more into ApartmentTherapy.com, I'm beginning to realize how much you CAN really customize your life- there's seriously no limits! Got an old wood coffee table that has stains and scratches? Have a craving for a little color in the room? Buy some paint and PAINT IT ALL! Everything can be painted.(Well I don't suggest painting electronics, food products, appliances, or such...but) Everything and anything can take on a new life with a new coat of paint in some dazzzling color and set the mood for your living space. But what about fabrics, can't paint a couch can ya? Well, correct but think of this; Fabric stores are everywhere! Find a fabric you like (the possibilities are endless) invest in purchasing a BUNCH of it, depending on size of couch/chair/loveseat, and make a cover for it! Wa-la! (Haven't done it yet myself [hehe] so it might not be as easy as I am suggesting it be) But, eh, screw it...it can be done.



Case in point;
I'm beginning to realize how important it is to set ourselves in the environment that our minds CRAVE. Also, I'm now understanding how NOT impossible that mission is- how little tweaks here and there and small projects can make all the difference. It simply takes your passion and a bit of your time (only). Surround yourself by the comfort, inspiration, creativity and MADNESS from within//
